My Andrea Bocelli Groupie Moment

I always thought of myself as someone who is quite composed in almost everything. I rarely jumped up and down screaming and stuff. Not really easily panicking over something (except firecrackers. I hate firecrackers!). Okay, I know some of you would say, “Yeah right, Astrid, we don’t believe it.” Ehm… yeah perhaps it’s true, sometimes I think too much of myself…

Anyways, at least I *used* to believe I won’t ever going to get starstruck, that I would remain poised whenever I get to meet a star. After all, being in Berlin with its film festival events get me some chances to see some movie stars up close. So far so good, I guess. At least there’s no proof saying otherwise.

Until the night we went to the concert in Lajatico on Sunday July 25th, 2010. We had this one amazing moment when Andrea Bocelli happens to walk within my arm reach. OMG!!!

I’m going to show you screenshots since the whole moment is captured on video. Darling hubs happened to be blocking Andrea’s way (lucky hubs!!!). Technically hubs was actually even closer to Andrea than me, just too bad we didn’t have hubs’ face on camera ;).

Here’s the first picture, the maestro was just finished with his interviews and photo session. He was walking back to the backstage. Hubs was right on his path. I was on the opposite side of hubs, so in a way we could say Andrea Bocelli made his path between us :D.

That would’ve been pretty close. But wait…

Aaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! And he kept on walking to the direction of hubs. His bodyguards told him to make way.

*faints*

Now, where was I? Oh yes, from that angle I was on his right side, on the opposite side of hubs. You could see me on the next frame, right after Andrea Bocelli walked past us.

Completely mesmerized. Frozen. Starstruck. Bonkers.

Ha!

PS: Please forgive my blogging hiatus, I was on vacation, had some friends visiting, and I’m trying to get to the submitting deadline of my work. Still working hard at the moment! *fingers crossed*.

I think it’s nice that we are not always in total control of ourselves. That’s a very cute picture of you!

Exactly why I decided to post the pictures. I did wish for a cooler one, but you can’t beat natural reaction :D. Also it goes to show how much of a fan I am for him 🙂

Wow, these are some great pics… At least you were this close to Andrea… I saw him last November in Ft. Lauderdale, but never
got close to him… I would give anything to be that close and
to meet him… I love Andrea so very much… His voice, his music,
THE MAN… Thank you for posting these pics… Sandi

      Hi Sandi,
Thank you for posting your comment! It’s always very nice for me to meet another Andrea’s fan :).
I was shaking for the rest of the night and grinning madly all week :D. We were very lucky to be at the backstage exit at the right time. I couldn’t imagine I’d ever be that close either. It was a magical moment, almost surreal.
I went to Lajatico twice for the concert (2009 & 2010). I wish Andrea would have it there again someday (this year was supposed to be the last one) because I think all of his fan should see him performing in his hometown, at least once.

How lucky you were, and especially lucky to have been at LTJ for two years running! The best I see of Andrea is at his NY concerts, when I try to get as close as possible, but obviously nowhere near as close as you, lucky girl!!! That would be a dream for me, even tho’ I am much older than you!

It’s a dream come true for me too :). We originally didn’t plan to go this year but when we found out it was the last one at LTJ, we just had to go! Lucky that there are still some tickets available.
I would love to see more of his concerts again, and next year there will be one in Berlin. I’m saving up for that 🙂
